The aqueous solution polymerization methods were used for the synthesis of superabsorbent resin. The effects of different experimental factors on synthetic resin water absorbency were investigated in this paper. The variables examined in this study included monomer concentration, neutralization degree, initiator and crosslinker concentration, reaction temperature and time, etc. The maximum absorbencies of distilled and 0.9% saline water are 919 times and 92 times respectively under optimum condition. Analysis from FTIR and SEM shown the polymer molecules can be firmly fixed with kaolin, the bonding of kaolin and polymer is good in CSR.

The superabsorbent membranes were prepared with acrylic acid (AA) and acrylamide (AM) as the monomers, poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) as toughening components, potassium persulfate (KPS) as the initiator agent, and glutaraldehyde (GA) as cross-linker by means of aqueous solution polymerization. Their structures were analyzed by FTIR spectroscopy. The effects of synthesis and heat-treatment conditions on water absorbency of superabsorbent membranes were investigated. Their water absorbency with different pH was studied as well. The results showed that the superabsorbent membranes exhibited intelligently pH-responsiveness.

In this paper, a novel superabsorbent composite material based on acrylic acid (AA), acrylic amide (AM) and inorganic kaolin was synthesized via solution polymerization in aqueous medium with N,N’-methylene bisacrylamide (MBA) as crosslinker and potassium persulfate (KPS) as initiator. The effects of water absorbency of the composite variables, such as neutralization, kaolin concentration and MBA concentration, on the water absorbency were systematically optimized. Evidence of compositing was obtained by a comparison of the Fourier transform infrared spectra of the initial reactants with that of the superabsorbent composites, and its complex structure was confirmed with scanning electron microscope. The water absorbing mechanism was also discussed. The results indicated that the superabsorbent composite material was successfully synthesized and the optimum reaction conditions were as follows: the neutralization degree was 80%, the dosage of kaolin, crosslinker and initiator were 4%, 0.11%, and 0.9% respectively and the mass ratio of AA and AM was 3∶2. The optimum absorbency of the superabsorbent composite material in distilled water could reach 815.6g/g.

TiO2 (P25) fine particles were loaded in a polyacrylic acid (PAA), which possessed a unique absorption characteristic and was synthesised by aqueous solution polymerization. The TiO2/PAA composite was taken as a photocatalyst to degrade methyl orange (MO), the degradability resistance and reproducibility of the photocatalyst were investigated experimentally. The results showed that the TiO2/PAA photocatalyst had a good activity and stability in degradability of organic compound.

A novel cement fluid loss additive P1402, which synthesized using the monomers of 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-propane sulphonic acid (AMPS), acrylic acid (AA), N,N dimethyl acrylamide (DMAM) and N-Vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (NVP) by the method of aqueous solution polymerization. The ratio of monomers AMPS:AA:DMAM:NVP at 2:1.5:1:1, reaction PH at 10.8, reaction temperature at 65°Cand reaction time about 5 hours. The IR spectrum of P1402 show that the polymer with the structure of all the monomers .The fluid loss performance testing show that the forpolymers P1402 has an excellent thermal stability. The fluid loss additive P1402 has an excellent tolerance to salt and high temperature.

Starch (St) and acrylamide (AM) copolymers was prepared by aqueous solution polymerization, which as raw material finished hydroxyl methylation reaction, then condensation dehydration with dicyanodiamine, cationic starch graft flocculant is synthetized. Hydroxyl methylation reaction optimum conditions are: temperature T=50°C; pH=10; n (HCHO) : n (St-AM)=1.1:1; reaction time t=2h; Dehydration optimum reaction conditions: mole ratio of 1:1; pH = 4; t=3 h; temperature T=45°C. Intrinsic viscosity number of product is 1023 ml/g, cationizing degree is 50%. Treatment performance for oil wastewater is investigated by using cationic starch graft flocculant compound with the inorganic polymeric coagulant polyferric chloride, the experimental results show that: in wastewater pH=7, the amount of inorganic polymeric coagulant polyferric chloride is 2000 mg/L, the amount of starch graft flocculant is 500 mg/L, the treatment effect is the best, oil content and suspension content are less than 10 mg/L, which reach Daqing oilfield re-injection standard.

By means of aqueous solution polymerization method, the composites of polyacrylic acid (PAA)/Bacterial cellulose (BC)/Na-MMT and PAA/Na-MMT were prepared respectively. The effects of Na-MMT content on the properties of PAA/Na-MMT and BC content on the properties of PAA/BC/Na-MMT composites were investigated. The results show that with appropriate increasing Na-MMT, the composites has good salt-resistant ability and thermal stability, mean while, the water-absorbing capacity of PAA/Na-MMT composites is significantly increased. Comparing with that of the PAA/Na-MMT hydrogel, with addition of BC content, the water-absorbing capacity and thermal stability of PAA/BC/Na-MMT are enhanced in a certain degree. The SEM analysis indicate that there are more network structure in the composites hydrogel. XRD result shows that the layered structure of Na-MMT is stripped and the prepared composites achieves peel compound.
